Some rather exciting news for UK business owners has been released that we wanted to share with you. A survey by Travelodge polled 1,500 British adults about their holiday plans this Easter – and the results are in! Brits are shunning breaks abroad in favour of supporting British tourism.

Due to a public feeling of uncertainty around Brexit, Britons holidaying at home this Easter has doubled – from 34% in 2018 to 67% for 2019.

Looking at the study further provides a wealth of information about parents plans for Easter. A quarter are intending to split the 5 day break over 2 mini breaks so that their children will get the most out of the school holiday.

It is estimated that this Easter, UK holidaying will create a £36 million boost for the UK economy. This is even with the average amount Brits will spend on their Easter holidays decreasing – from £1315 last year to £815 for 2019.

And with Easter falling later this year and the temperatures predicted to rise the traditional seaside jaunt is the most popular option for UK parents, at the top of the poll with a clear third of the votes in total. The most popular seaside locations this year look to be Blackpool, Cornwall, Brighton, Devon and Bournemouth.

The second popular are looking to be city breaks to historical cities – most popular being London, Birmingham (next door to us!), Edinburgh, Glasgow and Bath.

Finally third popular are rural breaks – celebrating the glorious British countryside and our village culture – with the most popular Easter holiday locations appearing to be Lake District, Yorkshire Dales, Scottish Highlands, Snowdonia and the Cotswolds.

This boost is predicted to really effect the hospitality, tourism and restaurant industries – with Travelodge themselves noting an increase in bookings for Easter breaks already coming in.

With this opportunity on the horizon, what will you be doing this Easter to make sure you get a slice of this pie? Or more appropriately, your bite of the Easter Egg?
