Nestled away in London’s buzzing Camden Town is a fish and chip shop with a difference: Hook Camden Town. It’s only been opened for a few weeks and it’s already causing a splash with its take on the nation’s favourite dish.
Barry Wallace and Simon Whiteside honed their concept with their restaurant in Brussels and decided to bring their ideas to London this year. The focus is on fresh sustainable fish with creative flavours: their menu can include Jamaican jerk pollock or Cajun spiced red gurnard and is constantly adapted to bring new flavours to their customers.
Their unique vision has extended to the whole visitor experience so their customers are met with a fresh interior look including eye-catching artwork on the walls and their food, cooked in a 3 pan electric Florigo wall frying range, is served in wooden tray boxes.
As well as the flavoured fish, they also provide just as original homemade sauces and salts; in fact they claim that once you’ve tried their home-ground seaweed salt, you’ll never look at a regular salt shaker in the eye again!
