When a lease came up for a shop within Weston Favell Centre, Northampton’s biggest shopping centre, Steve Benning jumped at the opportunity to take it. With a 24hr Tesco and many shops with late closing hours, this was a prime site with a potential high footfall.
Previously a bike shop, the lease took almost two years to sort and Steve had to refit the whole shop, working with the shopfitters to get the most space at the back for his prep area. When it came to deciding what fish and chip shop equipment to have, Steve was heavily influenced by his experience with his Florigo in his other local shop: even though it’s now 16 years old, he knew the fryer was reliable so decided to go to Frying Solutions to design a stylish range for his new shop. ‘I’m really happy with the range’ Steve said. ‘It works really well and the filtration with the separate return pipes are really good.’ His new range was certainly put through its paces straight away when the shop, Andrew’s Fish & Chip Emporium, opened with a bang on 23rd December, a day which saw the highest footfall in the UK!
After this baptism of fire, Andrew’s Fish & Chip Emporium has seen a steady stream of customers coming through its doors with regular faces from their other shop turning up, keen to sample the high quality product. Steve is known for an extensive menu, from the all-important fish and chips to fillet steak, so he needed a range that would be flexible enough to manage his menu. He chose a 5 pan counter range that included bain maries, a specially built in heated display unit for his curries as well as a separate cold display unit for his salads. With blue downlighting running down the hand crafted stainless steel counter to compliment the shop’s lighting scheme, Andrew’s Fish & Chip Emporium is fast becoming Northampton’s must-see fish and chip shop!
